About the Artist

"Inspired by the connection between all living things, Sophie’s work is heavily influenced by natural patterns. Her observational paintings began as a study of the organic structure and rhythm of patterns found in earthly forms such as plants and rocks. Her adoration for natural arrangements plays into her beadwork. She fashions pieces from a breadth of semi-precious stone, shells, and an assortment of ceramic and glass beads into nature-inspired collections of jewelry. Oscillating between oil painting and beaded jewelry, her art practice has evolved to explore beads as her primary muse.”

Sophie Linden is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Detroit, Michigan. Both an oil painter and a jeweler, Linden centers glass beads and semi-precious stones as her muse. Inspired by the connection between all living things, Linden’s work is heavily influenced by natural patterns and her environment. She studied oil painting at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, and graduated from University of Michigan’s Stamps School of Art and Design in 2021, where she earned her BFA and a minor in Art History.
